Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Looking for a budget device to read and reset trouble codes on most vehicles from 1996 to 2002, the the C100 is the Code Reader for you. It features simple push button operation and is small enough to keep in your tool or glovebox depending on your need. The unit does not support the newer CAN-BUS protocol so for post 2002 vehicles it is not recommended or supported even though it will read and erase most generic codes, VEHICLE COVERAGE GM '96 - Current Year (OBD-II) Ford '96 - Current Year (OBD-II) Chrysler '96 - Current Year (OBD-II) Toyota '96 - Current Year (OBD-II) Honda '96 - Current Year (OBD-II) NISSAN '96 - Current Year (OBD-II) All other Asian and European '96 - Current Year (OBD-II)

5 out of 5 stars Great Service A+++,Poor code reader D-!   August 21, 2010

Excellent shipping. Received product same week ordered. I would definitely use this seller again. The code reader worked poorly. Using it on the model years listed,it missed some codes.Could not trust results given. Do not recommend this code reader except as a toy.(Or for the person who always wants to borrow your tools?)

5 out of 5 stars Simple scanner but packs a punch for the price   January 8, 2010

I bought this as a simple replacement for my older Actron Pocketscan scanner that was on the fritz. This device does everything that device did and much quicker in terms of reading codes and deleting them. It is a great device to keep handy in your vehicle for reading codes. You can then search on any website or car forum and you will find out what the code means. You could pay considerably more for the same type of scanner to do the same exact thing, read codes and delete them, but why do that. This is without a doubt one of the best values for a any motorist out there.

Got me the OBD code in much less then what a mechanic would charge, I was able to clear the code using this scanner. Finding the fix on the internet was easy.

Got this for a relative who owns a 2002 Toyota Echo.
After a Boston area garage ripped her off for a fuel pump, O2 sensors
etc etc (About $1,000), I read the codes and found out she had a dirty MAS sensor. (The sensor wires were thickly coated with gunk)!
After I cleaned it, the car started running much better (no more stalling) and getting fantastic MPG.. "Just like when it was new".
Cleaning the Echo MAS is a very easy DIY job. Instructions on the web.

Even with a new gas cap, she is still getting the P0440 Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction, almost every time she gets a fill up.

So, now she can quickly read and re-set the 0440 code and have her car ready for it's yearly state inspection.
(She just has to wait a week after resetting before getting inspected).

I've read that it's very common for the Echo to throw Emission Control System error codes, with 0440 being at the top of the list.

Cheers,
Rich
