4 out of 5 stars A good buy.   April 22, 2010

I recently added this mesh jacket to my motorcycling gear. I needed something for summertime city riding. Air flow is great and that's what I wanted it for. As for it being hot while sitting in traffic, I can't imagine anything being cool while sitting in the middle of a hot roadway, on a hot bike in the middle of summer. Even nude would be hot. At least this jacket gives you more protection than going without. I know, last July I met the pavement at 30 mph in a short sleeve shirt. Had I had on a jacket like this, I would be wearing fewer scars today. Bottom line, a well made jacket with enough airflow through it for summer riding. But, even with the liner, 50-60 degrees is about the limit for cool weather comfort. Also, buy one size larger that normal. They tend to run small.

3 out of 5 stars Cheap, but little protection   December 2, 2009

Jacket is cheap, would not want to depend on its protection in a collision.
Armor is there, but mesh is very light and flimsy. So it may offer some protection on impact, but pretty much zero protection on a skid.

Liner is a joke, this is a Summer only jacket (70F and up if sunny, 75 at night)
Even in the summer it is no fun sitting in traffic.

xelement seems to be a bargain brand, with subpar products. Still better than nothing for entry level though. (I upgraded to the "Z1R Dart" jacket after a few months, and love it!) Now I will probably retire the xelement jacket in all but the most brutal heat (even there, the Z1R Dart should be able to handle up to high 80s).

really amazing. By that price you will not obtain anything better. It could criticize some that another thing of jacket but is not worth the pain, has very good

5 out of 5 stars Keep him safe   May 1, 2009

My husband must own a motorcycle. It's a testosterone thing. If he has to be on it at least I can try to keep him safe. This jacket is amazing. It's like one big shin guard covered by a wind proof jacket or, if you prefer, a wind admitting mesh-way cool. He'll wear it and I'll feel better.

5 out of 5 stars Great jacket for the price!   July 5, 2008

Unfortunately the jacket arrived a couple days after I got rear-ended on my CBR so I can't review the saftey features of the jacket. I commute almost 2 hours a day and found the jacket to be quite comfortable. It has plenty of adjustments to make it snug no matter what you are wearing underneath. I very much like the sleeve adjustments. It's easy to make the sleeves tight for those occasional runs of 100+ mph (no, I'm not condoning breaking the speed limit).
