1. Ford F-Series – Ford sold 516,639 F-series pickup trucks as of November, 2011 making it the top-selling vehicle for the year. In 2009, the F-150 won the Motor Trend 2009 Truck of the Year Award. It also won the Best Redesigned Vehicle from Kelly blue book in 2009 and one the Best Overall Half-Ton Pickup award from pickuptrucks.com. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety listed the F-150 as a Top Safety Pick.

2. Chevy Silverado – Chevy sold 367,343 Chevy Silverado’s in the first 11 months of last year. The vehicle won Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year for the Heavy Duty model. This Silverado boasts a towing capacity 9, 500 pounds and a force power of 315 at 5200 RPM. The EPA fuel economy estimates for the Chevy Silverado are 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

3. Toyota Camry – Toyota sold 275,004 Toyota Camry’s in the United States through November, 2011. The Camry Hybrid provides 35 miles per gallon (mpg) on the highway and 31 mpg in the city. The annual fuel cost of driving the Toyota Camry is $1,364 based on driving 15,000 miles per year and an average gas price of $3.00 per gallon.

4. Ford Escape – Ford sold 228,719 Ford Escape’s as of November last year, including nearly 9,000 hybrids. This compact sport utility vehicle provides 171 horsepower with a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine. The Ford escape provides an electric boost motor in combination with a continuously variable transmission to deliver between 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

5. Nissan Altima – During the same time frame of last year, 243,005 Nissan Altima’s were sold. The Nissan Altima provides hundred and 75 hp engine, having excellent acceleration for merging onto the highways with a peak torque of 180 lbs.-ft at the range of 3900 rpm. The EPA estimates 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway for the Nissan Altima.

6. Ford Fusion – Ford sold 226,445 Ford Fusions during the same time frame. At the Detroit auto show the Ford Fusion won the 2010 North American Car of the Year award. The Ford Fusion Hybrids have an EPA rating of 41 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. The non hybrid models can deliver 23 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.

7. Ram Pickups – The Dodge Ram Pickups (1500 / 2500 / 3500 / 4500 / 5500 series) come in at #7 with 218,750 trucks sold up through November. The Tradesmen package on the Ram 1500 pickup provides 390 horsepower and 407 pound feet of torque with its standard 5.7 L hemi V-8 engine. According to the EPA, the five speed automatic transmission provides 20 mpg on the highway.

8. Honda Civic – Honda sold 200,696 Civics during this time frame. The 2011 Honda Civic was rated as one of 2011′s Best Compact Car for the Money by US News. The Civic is rated at 26 mpg city and 34 mpg on the highway. The Honda Civic is available as a coupe or sedan providing 140 horsepower.

9. Toyota Corolla – Toyota sold 219,250 Corollas through the first 11 months of last year. The EPA estimated 34 mpg highway and 26 mpg city for the four-speed automatic Corolla LE model. The Toyota Corolla provides 132 hp at 6000 RPM and 128 pound feet of torque at 4400 RPM.

10. Honda CR-V – Honda also sold 196,787 C-RVs through November of 2011. The CR-V, special purpose vehicle (SUV four-wheel drive) model is rated at 28 mpg highway and 21 mpg city. This five passenger SUV three at 180 hp, with a four-cylinder 2.4 L engine. This vehicle was made to increase traction in inclement weather but is not suitable for heavy off-road use.
